Placed in the Barra of Maldonado, in street of the Corsarios almost The Galeón. The Museum of the Sea began in 1961 to join marine pieces of all parts of the world. On January 15, 1996 it was inaugurated and since then, the Museum has been trebled both in his surface and in the quantity and variety of his collections.

It offers to his visitors a varied collection of more than 10.000 copies of the marine fauna (living and dead) of other parts of the world. There can be different species of marine snails, (living) horses of sea, corals, starfish, hedgehogs, crabs, crustaceans, shells of turtle, jaws of shark, hedgehogs, skeletons of whale, a fish 2,60 mts moon and much more. Also it is possible to appreciate a collection of ancient photos of the beaches of Punta del Este and a marine aquarium of big size. In one of his rooms there are exhibited ancient spyglasses, blunderbusses, flags, scimitars, receptacles, rudders, galleons and tell him the histories and legends of the most famous pirates of the history.
